Francis bacon – Dimension

I have been really interested at some of Francis Bacon’s work, in particular the way he uses boxes to frame the focal point of the painting. Although, it may not have been intentional, i feel it creates added dimension and volume. It has inspired me to look further into using dimension to create volume in my work.

We have been given the following brief to complete by 15th October.

Aim: The aim of this project is to -

develop your knowledge, understanding and skills and development processes involved in drawing.
research, explore and experiment with approaches and technique.
respond to a given brief.
extend your knowledge of art and art practices.
develop best practice in self directed studio practice.

Summary of Programme:

You undertake a drawing project in response to a given word (VOLUME). You will consider the work of 2-3 artists that you identify as exploring elements related to your words in their work.

Suggested Research:

You will use a variety of research methods including online and traditional, however emphasis must be placed on the use of excellent selection of materials available in the LRC.

Brief:

You are required to research and investigate the theme of VOLUME. You will then develop your ideas towards a series of drawings totaling no less than 10 and no more than 30.

You should consider: composition, mood, surface and application.

I’m quite impressed I have made it this far! Computers and I don’t have a very good relationship but seeing as I have managed to get this far I think you can expect great things from my blog and I in the future!
